A few notes:

First, the adhesive chalkboards I had on my fridge upon which I posted my menu each week have seen better days.  Plus, all the chalk dust was driving me crazy.  So I bought a few new dry erase boards….not sure if I like them yet, nor if I like the placement on the fridge, but for now they’re ok.  I’d prefer a completely cleared off refrigerator, but since I’m an out-of-sight-out-of-mind kind of girl, I need the visual reminders.

Second, we’re working on some character building at our house…..first up: contentment.  The iPhone 5 has brought up some great conversations with my kids about being content with what we have.  My kids don’t even have smartphones (my oldest has a basic feature-phone, and though it’s come in handy a time or two, we still question the necessity of it), yet they are still caught up in the hype of upgrading whenever a newer model comes out.  Grrrrrr…..I have so much to say on this topic, but since this is a menu post I’ll leave it at that……I just wanted to explain the dictionary and scripture references on the other new dry erase board.

Third, my oldest is going to make dinner for the family on Sunday night.  She told me she doesn’t want to plan ahead…..she’d rather wait until that afternoon to see what “sounds good to cook.”  Ummm, no, that’s not how it works around here.  So she chose her favorite meal and she’s going to get me her ingredient list by my next grocery shopping trip.

Finally, I am really looking forward to our supper club dinner on Saturday night.  What could be better than old college friends, yummy food and good wine?  We used to meet on a monthly basis, but as careers, kids and just plain old life rolled along we got out of the habit and it’s been years since the gang was together.  There’s just something about being with people who knew you way-back-when.  Should be a really fun night full of laughter and memories.
